Two vehicles passed me on I-55, 40 miles south of Cape Giradeau, Mo, both with over sized loads consisting of what appeared to be oil storage drums. Both vehicles were traveling at at at least 80 mi/per hour. The loads were so wide that they had to let their left tires on to the left shoulder, which was only 1.5 ft, wide to pass. It was raining steadily at the time and their was wind. Had their been any unexpected movement of the trucks at the time, a significant accident would have occurred.
The drivers were oblivious to any rudimentary driving safety protocols.
