Big Fluffy Dog Rescue has photos that are dated that show dogs that have been starved, injured and burned AFTER they are at this shelter. I almost threw up from revulsion. Whoever works at this Animal Control should be beaten to death. What cruelty. Go to Facebook and look at the photos for yourself. Vicious!
I avoided this place because of the reviews, but no one else would help me, call me back, or email me back so I called these guys. I found a cat living under my house, she was timid but sweet and eventually started come up to me when I was out walking my dogs. Then this winter, when it snowed, she came up to my back door mewling pathetically and I gave in and let the poor thing inside. She was sweet and very affectionate and she wouldn't go away. I figured she must have a home, but she kind of adopted us. Then we found out she was pregnant... 4 kittens later we didn't know what to do. No money to take care of all of them, my lease was up for renewal and we were about to have an inspection, plus my children are 4 and 1 yrs old, too young for kittens around the house, so we couldn't keep them for 8 weeks and Warren county animal control said they work with a rescue and the sweet cat wouldn't be put down! The place was clean, smelled great and the people were so nice and understanding. AND all the animals looked well taken care of.
Yes, several years ago this place had a bad reputation. They have turned that around. Had a sweet stray who became injured and I couldn't afford to help her. Dropped her off with the animal control officer who was already on the way to the vet. Found out she had almost completely ripped one of her paw pads. Instead of putting her down, they treated her infection and took excellent care of her. They are not bothered by me going to visit her (which I do once or twice a week) They DO NOT euthanize cats unless they are too aggressive or hurt/sick so badly that it can not be fixed. They also actively look for rescues. If you are concerned about what happened in the past with this facility worry no more. A great, friendly and most of all caring staf

I love the fact that this isn't a kill shelter. The employees are lovely and work so hard, they truly care about these animals. If you love animals, volunteering is an amazing opportunity and will make you feel great.
